Tysa Marlow Announced as LCOOC's 2020 Student of the Year
Tysa Marlow has been announced as Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College’s Student of the Year. The Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College Scholarship Committee chose Tysa to receive this distinguished award based on the exceptional academic and personal goals she has achieved while attending the college. As the Student of the Year, Tysa will receive a $1,200 scholarship and address the 2020 graduates at the upcoming commencement ceremony on August 1, 2020.
Tysa is a descendent of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe and a 2020 graduate from the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College (LCOOC) receiving an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. While in attendance at LCOOC she has been involved in the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), team lead of the Rocket Team, Secretary of Student Senate, a member of the college’s softball team and an intern in the UW-Extension Office. She plans on transferring to UW-Eau Claire in the Fall of 2020.
The Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College Student of the Year award is funded through The American Indian College Fund Student of the Year Program, which is sponsored by the Adolph Coors Foundation. These awards are given out to one student at each of the 35 Tribal Colleges in the country.
