University of WI- Superior Scholarship Established in Honor of Dennis White

Dennis White, a Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal member and Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College’s (LCOOC) Mathematics and Art Faculty has recently been honored by the University of Wisconsin-Superior Alumni Foundation by establishing a scholarship in Dennis’s name at his alma mater, University of Wisconsin- Superior (UWS). The Dennis White Scholarship is available to members of Ojibwe Tribes that plan to major in Education at UWS.

White earned his first degree in Mathematics in 1969 at UWS. He then continued his education journey and received his master’s degree in Mathematics from UW-Madison. Dennis then went on to become a teacher at a private college and is currently instructing at LCOOC.

The UW-Superior Alumni Foundation chose Dennis as its Distinguished Alumni Awardee in 2017 and continues to show their admiration for him through this establishment of the scholarship.

Congratulations to Dennis White on this prestigious honor and the continued leadership he’s proven to his people, culture and community.
