Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College Announces Bachelor’s Degree Programs

Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College will offer limited pilot courses toward a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services Fall 2019.

“We listened to our students and our community through surveys and focus groups. Because of the feedback we heard, we are now able to provide the opportunity to further your education, while staying in your community.” says Dr. Russell Swagger, President of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College.

Graduates of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community Colleges’ Associates in Small Business and Associates in Human Services will be offered first priority of application into the respective Bachelor Degree pilot courses. The deadline for this priority is August 2nd.

Graduates of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College in other Associate degree programs will be offered second priority of application into the pilot courses. The deadline for this priority is August 16th.

All other students will be offered third priority into the pilot courses. The deadline for this priority is August 23.

Federal Student Aid is not available to students for these pilot courses. However, Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College is offering limited scholarships to cover the cost of tuition and fees for students who meet admission requirements to enroll in any of the pilot courses.

LCOOCC is currently seeking accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to offer fully accredited bachelor degree programs. These pilot courses, along with submission of the necessary application materials submitted Spring 2019, are part of the accreditation process.

HLC will review the application in an onsite visit in early Spring 2020. HLC will notify the College of its decision during late Spring or Summer 2020.

Dr. Swagger shared “While we anticipate that Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College will receive full accreditation by HLC, we believe in having back-up plans. If accreditation is not received by HLC, students who complete the pilot courses will be awarded a Tribal Business Leadership Certificate and Human Services Leadership Certificate respectively.”

To apply for these pilot programs, contact Jimmy White, Recruiter & Admission Specialist at 715-634-4790 or 715-558-5304.

Disclaimer

Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College (LCOOCC) is offering pilot courses leading to a bachelor degree in Business and Human Services beginning in Fall 2019. Be fully aware, these courses are not yet approved by the Higher Learning Commission. This means the courses are not eligible for federal financial aid and courses may be non-transferable to another college.

Though Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College expects these bachelor degrees to be fully accredited in the near future, there is always the possibility they may not be approved. If the Higher Learning Commission does not approve the bachelor degrees, students in these programs may be eligible to receive a certificate in leadership or health services upon successful completion of all requirements set forth by LCOOCC. Money paid by students to LCOOCC for these courses is non-refundable even if the program is not accredited.
