Senator Janet Bewley is the keynote speaker for LCO College's 2018 Commencement Ceremony

On May 17, 2018: The LCO College’s 2018 commencement ceremony’s keynote speaker will be Senator Janet Bewley. Senator Bewley represents Wisconsin’s 25th Senate District. Senator Bewley was elected in the fall of 2014 after serving two terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Prior to her seat on assembly Senator Bewley served on the Ashland City Council for two years.

Senator Bewley was born in 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the second of four children in a hard-working family. In 1973 Senator Bewley became the first member of her family to graduate from college, Case Western Reserve. After having worked in the ocean freight business, Senator Bewley went to graduate school and earned a Master’s in Academic Admi

nistration from the University of Maine in 1977. She later moved to Wisconsin.

Senator Bewley’s professional career is more than 30 years, including working as a Senior Community Development Authority, Family Administrator at HRK group in Bayfield, Executive Director of the Mary H. Rice Foundation, and Dean of Students at Northland College. Senator Bewley and her husband David have five grown children and five fantastic grandchildren.

Senator Bewley is an active member of the Senate’s Committee on Education, Committee on Insurance, Housing and Trade, Committee on Economic Development, Commerce and Local Government, and the Committee on Senate Organization. Senator Bewley also serves on the Governor’s Councils on Tourism and Forestry, the State Council on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, and on the Board of the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority as well as the Governor’s Task Force on Opioid Abuse.
