Hospitality Certificate

This specialized certificate is designed to give students a broad range of skills in the hospitality and tourism industries. Students will learn the necessary skills to successfully work in restaurants, lodging, casinos, and other hospitality related fields.

Student Profile

Students entering the Hospitality program should possess the following:

  1. An interest in customer service and relations

  2. Strong communication and critical thinking skills

  3. A passion for learning effective interpersonal relationship skills

Program Outcomes

  1. Apply the concepts and skills necessary to achieve guest satisfaction.

  2. Demonstrate leadership and teamwork to achieve common goals.

  3. Conduct him/herself in a professional and ethical manner, and practice industry-defined work ethics.

  4. Use the knowledge of multicultural perspectives to meet the needs of the guests and employees.

  5. Demonstrate ability to perform basic and supervisory level job functions in hotel and restaurant careers.

Career Outlook

Graduates may work in a wide variety of settings such as:

  • Meeting, Convention, and Event Planners

  • Hosts and Hostesses, Restaurant and Lounge

  • Hotel, Motel and Resort Desk Clerks

  • Receptionists and Information Clerks

  • Travel Guides

  • Gaming Supervisor

  • Food Services, Gaming or Lodging Managers
