Program
Eligibility and Selection Process
For a student to be eligible for selection, he/she must meet the following
criteria:
· Display a genuine interest in the career area
· Submit a completed application
· Has good attendance
· Is on track for graduation
In addition, the student must also be willing to:
· Provide three references (name, address, and phone number)
· Complete the pre-placement Work-based Learning Application
and the employer’s job application
· Follow the policies and the procedures of the institutions
· Provide transportation to the apprenticeship courses and
worksite locations
After the student completes the WBL Application package and returns
it to LCO College, the student will then be able to apply at a worksite
when one becomes available. The worksite will review the applications
submitted and interview the candidate(s) for a possible position.
Selection for the position is at the sole discretion of the employer,
and they will choose the candidate that they believe will best fit
into and meet the needs of the worksite. The WBL Program does not
discriminate against qualified individuals on the basis of race, color,
national origin, ancestry, religion, creed, sex, disability, or other
protected class status. When a student is selected for participation
in the program, the student, parent, school, and business/industry
will sign an Education/Training Agreement that covers the responsibilities
for all parties involved.
