Foundation of the College
  • LCOOCC was originally chartered on August 20, 1982.
  • The legal name of the college is : Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College, Incorporated.
  • The first president of the college was John, "Little Bird," Anderson.
Accreditation history
  • LCOOCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, generally referred to as NCA.
  • In 1987 LCOOCC was granted candidacy status by NCA.
  • In 1993 LCOOCC was accredited by NCA to grant associate degrees.
  • In 1998 this accreditation status was renewed.
Tax Exempt status
  • The U.S. Department of the Treasury recognizes LCOOCC as a 501(c)3 (non-profit) institution and is thereby tax exempt .
  • LCOOCC has an assigned number designating this status.  This number is referred to as the Employer Identification Number (EIN) or the Tax Identification Number (TIN.)
