soc  285            SOCIOLOGY OF NATIVE AM. FAMILIES/COMMUNITIES       3 cr

The historical foundations of Native American communities, contemporary Indian life, acculturation and identity, prejudice and discrimination patterns.  Red power movements, Indian education, the urban Indian, and economic development programs will be studied. This course will also study the role of parents in early childhood programs as observers, as participants and as decision makers. (Spring)
