Associate of Applied Science--Nursing

OUTCOMES

OBJECTIVES

MEANS OF ASSESSMENT

The student will graduate with an Associate of Science - Nursing Degree at LCOOCC, and can successfully matriculate to the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire School of Nursing to obtain a BSN Degree.

 

Students will:

1.      communicate effectively, write clear, well-organized papers, and be able to convey critical thinking skills utilizing the scientific method.

2.      The students will have a solid foundation of knowledge in Algebraic and Statistical skills, and will be able to identify data needed for medication calculation and have a basic level understanding of statistical data evaluation for Nursing research.

·         At least 90 % of student graduating with the A.A.S. Nursing Degree, from Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College, will receive a 2.5 GPA.

·         At least 75% of students completing the Degree will  score a 5 or higher on the General Education Writing Rubric.

·         At least 75% of the students will successfully complete the Case Studies Analysis in HTH 107 and SCI 230.

·         At least 75% of the students matriculating to UW-Eau Claire will obtain the BSN Degree.

·         At least 75% of the students completing MTH 11 and MTM 113 will maintain a 2.5 GPA AND will score a 4 or better on the Gen. Ed. Mathematics Rubric. 

The student will provide the Northwest Wisconsin area with an increased number of nurses to provide care to American Indian people.

Students will:

1.      pass the NCLEX Exam for licensure as a Registered Nurse.

2.      gain employment in a nursing position in the Northwest Wisconsin area.

·         At least 98% of the students graduating will go on to pass the NCLEX Exam.

·         At least 75% will return to nursing position in the Northwest Wisconsin area.

   

Students will demonstrate a basic proficiency in the technical skills used in a general office setting.

Student will

1.      demonstrate  the ability to perform advanced word-processing including developing templates, creating form letters, and using mail merge functions.

2.      be able to create and use a database to maintain business contacts and scheduling information.

3.      demonstrate the ability to create a variety of publications (to include newsletters, flyers, brochures, business cards, etc.) using desktop publishing software and graphics software.

4.      demonstrate proficiency with a variety of office machines including, calculator, 10-key, typewriter, copier, scanner, telephones, printers, computers, etc.

5.      be capable of creating and maintaining a computerized spreadsheet.

6.      demonstrate ability to perform routine maintenance of various office equipment.

·         Checklists will be developed and maintained, by the instructors, to evaluate and document the attainment of the skills acquired by each student.

Students will demonstrate the ability to employ critical thinking, decision making and communication skills used in a general office setting.

Student will

1.      demonstrate the ability to make travel plans.

2.      demonstrate how to answer calls and take messages correctly.

3.      demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in proofreading skills.

4.      show an ability to meet deadlines.

5.      demonstrate the ability to process information to generate accurate correspondence, minutes and documents necessary in a general office setting. 

·         Practical exams will be developed to measure each objective.  “Hands-on” exams will be assessed by instructor(s) based upon rubrics developed for each skill required.

 

Students will be able to relate positive work ethics and workplace relationships to a successful career.

Student will

1.      exhibit an understanding of the need for confidentiality.

2.      show an ability to work as a contributing member in a group/team setting.
