OBJECTIVES

MEANS OF ASSESSMENT

The student will utilize intellectual inquiry and concepts in the physical and/or natural sciences.

1.      The student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of concepts, processes and applications related to problem solving and critical thinking utilizing the scientific method.

2.      The student will be able to describe interrelationships between humanity and the rest of the natural world.

·         A random sample of projects (papers, presentations, term projects, lab experiments, etc.) from two courses, selected by the Academic Dean, within the Physical & Natural Sciences disciplines will be assessed as to the students ability to utilize the scientific method.  A minimum of 75% of these projects will score a 3 or higher on a standardized rubric (See Appendix CI-GE-7).

·         Students will respond to an essay question, during the Graduation Exam, in which they describe interrelationships between humans and the rest of the natural world.  A minimum of 75% of the essays will score a 3 or higher on a rubric.  (See Appendix CI-GE-8.)
