Results from the Two Task-force Questions: from most important to subsequent undertakings -

 A.    “What programs, tasks, or projects should LCOOCC undertake to improve the educational opportunities for the benefit of its students and the communities it serves?”

1.      Ojibwa Language HAS to be preserved and restored

2.      Establish more technology based academic programs

3.      Ojibwa cultural aspects need to be more visible

4.      Expand Library Services

5.      Career advising and K-i 2 student matriculation to college needs to be fully developed

6.      Agriculture/Earth Preserving/Natural Resources issues need to be addressed more fully in academic programs

7.      Careers in business and tourism need to be promoted

8.      Professional Development availability at all levels needs to be improved

9.      More on-line courses need to be made available

10. A Public Relations, Recruitment position needs to be established

11. Computer Laboratories need to be established for "open-lab" access

12. More programming in the Occupational Trades need to be developed

13. Compensational wages need to be paid to retain employees

14. Summer, weekend, and evening course offerings need to be expanded

15. Baccalaureate Degrees need to be offered to keep people in the area

16. Performing/visual arts programming needs to be established

17. Physical Education courses need expansion

18. Student extracurricular activities need more publicity for attendance and support

19. Farm equipment and facilities need improvement to support educational programs

20. Food Service, Housing, and Day Care issues need to be addressed

 

 B.     "What facilities are in need of expansion and what facilities will need to be built to help sustain our mission into the future?"

 1.      An Ojibwa Culture Center to encompass the Native American Studies Degree Program as well as the Language Restoration/Preservation program

2.      A Public Library that can support the required volumes for degree programs and research materials necessary for Land Grant Institutions

3.      Computer laboratory space

4.      "Permanent" spaces for offices and classrooms at Outreach sites

5.      Agriculture/Natural Resources/Sustainable Development and renewable Energy Laboratories

6.      The "Pipe Mustache" Auditorium needs to be acoustically altered and redesigned to be used as a meeting and performance workable space

7.      Health Fields space/wing: Nursing/Medical Assistant/AODA/Human Services/Physical Education

8.      General Classrooms w/lnternet connections and LCD projectors

9.      LCOOCC Farm Buildings to support educational programming

10. Student Support Services needs a larger facility

11. Storage spaces are filled to capacity

12. Insufficient space for Faculty Offices

13. Bookstore area is insufficient

14. Student/Faculty housing

15. Food Services

16. Day Care

17. An art studio

18. Broadcast studio: TV, radio, distance education

19. Outdoor classroom
